Today, the World Awareness Children's Museum had a visit from our friends Kelly and Tatiana from São Paulo, Brazil. Kelly and Tatiana have been the museum's partners in Brazil for 22 years, facilitating art exchanges between students in Brazil and internationally through the museum's International Youth Art Exchange Program. This year, we received 20+ pieces of art from Brazilian students in Barueri, São Paulo, and we are sending artworks from around the world back with Kelly and Tatiana to share with their students. We are incredibly grateful for this partnership and the work Kelly, Tatiana, and their team do to give students in under-resourced areas access to art education, community resources, and much more. It's wonderful to see how art transcends language and culture to bring all of us closer together.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and is observed by praying, reading the Koran, and fasting. The fasting is observed by refusing to eat or drink anything during daylight hours (children, the sick, and the elderly are excused from this tradition). Ramadan is also a time for generosity and kindness, and many individuals will raise money and donate items to those in need. This tradition ends with Eid ul-Fitr, the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast, where family and friends come together to eat and share gifts. It is observed March 10 - April 9 this year.
