Beyond the Exhibit: Learning About Haudenosaunee Life

The World Awareness Children’s Museum is excited to announce our special Beyond the Exhibit: Learning About Haudenosaunee Life summer series taking place this August at the Charles R. Wood Theater in Glens Falls, NY! This family-friendly series will highlight Indigenous culture and offer guests an opportunity to learn more about the Haudenosaunee Confederacy through storytelling, song, and dance.

Tickets for both programs are $8 per person. Museum members get $1 off!

These programs were made possible by LARAC, The Glens Falls Foundation, and The Cloudsplitter Foundation.

Saturday, August 17, 2:00-3:00 PM: The Earth on Turtle’s Back

Dr. Joseph Bruchac, current Poet Laureate of Saratoga Springs, NY, will dazzle audiences with his storytelling skills. During this program, Dr. Bruchac will share Native American creation stories and music from the Northeastern woodlands, engaging children and adults alike.

Saturday, August 24, 2:00-3:00 PM: Chris Thomas & His Smoke Dancers

Highlighted by lightning footwork that seems to float on air, the Smoke Dance is a traditional social dance of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, a confederated alliance of the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora nations. Thomas is one of this generation’s most celebrated smoke dancers, and he and his Smoke Dancers will dazzle you with their talent.
