Per-Diem Community Engagement Associate

The World Awareness Children’s Museum is a cultural museum for kids! Our museum is home to artifacts from all over the world and over 8,000 pieces of child-made art from over 100 countries, dating back to 1988. The museum also has a hands-on exhibition space for children, where they can learn about the world through play. If you love the arts, children, and cultural education, this job is for you!

Our Community Engagement Associates wear many hats and are the face of the Museum for the public, educators, and students. Community Engagement Associates are required to teach classroom-style programs at schools throughout Upstate NY, teach workshops and simple crafts in the museum, help lead the Museum Summer Camp programs, do community tabling events, and more. Community Engagement Associates are ambassadors for the museum!

Community Engagement Associates:

• assist the Education Team in the development of museum programming.
• teach the museum’s pre-packaged educational programs to elementary schools, middle schools, and libraries in Upstate New York, teaching children about different cultural holidays, food people eat around the world, traditional cultural clothing, and more. They also teach our Virtual Classroom Programs for classrooms around the country, from the comfort of a dedicated Virtual Classroom office in our building.
• assist with Museum Summer Camp in July and August. They also lead various workshops at the museum throughout the year.
• are the museum’s representatives at community events throughout the year. They do tabling events at local festivals, theater events, community programs, and so much more!
• lead birthday parties at the museum throughout the year.
