African-Inspired Plate Mask Making

In recognition of World Day for African and Afrodescendant Culture (January 24), children are invited to explore African cultural expression through art. Families will learn how masks and decorative plates are used in many African traditions to celebrate storytelling, community, and identity, then create their own African-inspired plate mask using paper plates, paint, construction paper, and tissue paper.
